Toshiba CE Segment Sales Rise 11%

Gateway Q3 Revenue Climbs 3.7%, Loss Drops
San Diego — With the purchase of eMachines last spring under its belt, PC maker Gateway reported third-quarter revenue of $915.1 million, a 3.7 percent increase over the $883.1 million recorded in the year-ago period.

Hitachi CE Segment Revenue Jumps 10%
Tokyo — The CE digital media and consumer products segment at Hitachi increased its revenue by 10 percent in the company’s fiscal first half, reaching $6.1 billion, compared with $5.5 billion in the year-ago period.
Tokyo — Sales of optical media increased in the fiscal first half at TDK, as sharply higher sales volumes of DVDs, due to expanding demand, absorbed the effect of downward pressure on sales prices.
Pioneer Overseas CE Sales Flat
Tokyo — Overseas sales in the home electronics segment at Pioneer decreased less than 1 percent in the fiscal second quarter to $468.9 million from $473.4 million.
Sharp First Half CE Segment Sales Increase 15.4%
Osaka, Japan — Sales of large-screen-size LCD color televisions and camera-equipped mobile phones lifted Sharp’s fiscal six month sales in its audio/visual and communication group, namely consumer electronics, by 15.4 percent, hitting $4.3 billion, up from $3.8 billion.
Duracell Q3 Sales Climb 15%, Profit Up 52%
Boston — Duracell battery sales took parent Gillette by storm in the third quarter, with hurricane-related battery dollar volume rising 15 percent in the three months, hitting $592 million from a year-ago $514 million.
Sirius Q3 Revenue Soars As Net Sub Base Rises
New York — An increasing subscriber base helped satellite-radio provider Sirius more than quadruple total revenue in the third quarter, hitting $19.1 million, compared with $4.3 million in the same three months last year.
Cobra Q3 Sales Rise 18%, Income Up 46%
Chicago — Successful mobile-navigation product debuts, as well as a strong showing from the radar detection and citizens band radio product categories, helped Cobra Electronics post a 17.9 percent increase in third-quarter sales, hitting $31 million, compared with a year-on-year $26.3 million.
