Epson Adds MovieMate Projectors

Long Beach, Calif. –

Epson
America

this week unveiled two new models in its MovieMate combo home
entertainment projector/DVD systems, including a new 720p HD model.

Shipping this month, the MovieMate 85HD ($899 suggested retail)
and MovieMate 62 ($649) 3-chip LCD projectors are said to offer improved
imaging performance, CD/DVD disc playback, stereo speakers, HDMI input and
a  microphone input for voice
amplification, in one compact unit.

Both units use Epson’s 3LCD imaging engine and include Dolby Digital
audio with two built-in 10-watt speakers.

They are also compatible with Apple iPod, Nintendo Wii, Sony
PlayStation3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 sources.

The projectors will present a 16:9 widescreen 60-inch image from
only six feet away or a 120-inch image from just 12 feet away, Epson said.

The MovieMate 85HD offers 720p high-definition resolution with a
brighter energy-efficient E-TORL lamp than previous models.

Brightness levels for color and white light are said to be
sufficient for use even in some lighted-room conditions.

“The latest lineup of MovieMate models let consumers enjoy that
exciting big-screen cinema experience easily and affordably without the hassle
of packing the family up and going to the movie theater,” said Marge Ang,
senior product manager, Epson America. “And, the new top-of-the-line MovieMate
85HD offers a powerful set of home cinema features, whether you’re in the
living room for movie night, in the backyard for a neighborhood barbecue or at
the park for a birthday celebration.”

The MovieMate 62 features 540p resolution, and a 2,000 lumens
E-TORL lamp.
