Richmond, Va. — Circuit City has partnered with PlumChoice, a Web-based IT service firm, to provide online PC support services for its consumer, home office and small business customers.
The program, PlumChoice Online PC Services, is available to customers with broadband connections via Circuit City’s Web site, www.circuitcity.com, and in select Circuit City stores.
According to the No. 2 CE retail chain, PlumChoice offers high-quality, customer-friendly remote computer support for the home, home office and small business through a secure desktop sharing technology. The program allows certified technicians to access consumers’ computers over a high-speed Internet connection to view, configure, demonstrate and repair computers and other technology products in real time.
Based in Bedford, Mass., PlumChoice was founded in 2001 to provide an affordable, more convenient and easier computer support option, the company said.
“The addition of PlumChoice to Circuit City’s current PC Services offering allows us to offer consumers a complete service package — from in-store to in-home support,” said Marc Sieger, senior VP/general merchandise manager for Circuit City. “With this service we’re offering an added layer of peace of mind to consumers in a world where security is of utmost importance and technology changes so rapidly. Customers have the ability to receive the service conveniently in the comfort of their own home without the need of an in-home visitor.”
PlumChoice CEO Ted Werth added that “With the Web-based nature of the service, Circuit City and PlumChoice are able to provide an easy and convenient computer support option literally at the click of a mouse.”
PlumChoice offers full tech support for all Windows-compatible computers and computer accessories. The range of PlumChoice services now available through Circuit City includes MP3 player setup and instruction for $35, wireless network set up for $80, one hour of PC service for $90 and a PC tune up for $100. PlumChoice offers the same services and prices directly, as well as additional service and subscription options.
