Marion, Ind. — The Cellular Connection (TCC) has been named a top job creator among small and midsized businesses by Inc. Magazine.
The chain, which is Verizon’s largest authorized agent with 800 stores across 28 states, ranked 41st in the magazine’s inaugural Hire Power list of businesses that are adding jobs and rebuilding the economy.
TCC has 1,256 employees, including 482 jobs that it generated from 2008 to 2011.
“We are honored to be recognized by Inc. as a leading job-creating company and for our role in producing employment opportunities in the retail industry,” said president/CEO Scott Moorehead. “Our employees are truly the backbone of our business — they’re the reason we’re able to continue to grow and add new positions. As we continue to expand, our focus will remain on being a family-focused company that’s dedicated to its employees.”
TCC also ranked No. 1,294 on Inc.’s list of the country’s 5,000 fastest-growing private companies. TCC made the list for the third consecutive year, as revenue rose from $137.4 million in 2008 to $466.2 million in 2011.
TCC was founded here in 1991 by Steve and Phyllis Moorehead. The company attributed its success to its long-standing relationship with Verizon Wireless; its buying clout, which allows it to price its products and services competitively; and its ability to hire “top-notch professionals who understand the meaning of guest experience.”
Indeed, the chain said it sets itself apart from the many other cellular retailers by offering “a superior guest experience” that includes “personalized, one-on-one attention.”
