New York – The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) filled in some more blanks on the slate of featured speakers for the upcoming International CES in January at last night’s annual CES Unveiled New York event.
CEA president/CEO Gary Shapiro took the podium to announce new keynote and Supersession speakers, including CBS president and CEO Les Moonves, who will keynote the Brand Matters panel and be interviewed by MediaLink chairman Michael Kassan, to be followed by a panel discussion of top media and marketing executives.
The keynote will highlight how the evolution of hardware and software enables more dynamic content creation and distribution. Moonves will explore the impact that technological innovation has on today’s business paradigms and share their insights on the intersection of media, content, marketing and technology.
The Brand Matters keynote is slated for 3 p.m. Wed., Jan. 7, at the Westgate Theater. Panelists will be announced in the coming weeks.
Also added to the list of CES speakers was GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman, who will deliver the keynote address at the annual Leaders in Technology (LIT) Dinner.
The invitation-only event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wed., Jan. 7, in the Venetian Ballroom at The Venetian.
The annual event gathers and honors the top technologists, entrepreneurs and policymakers instrumental in furthering technology innovation, CEA said.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Nicholas’ entrepreneurial experience, perseverance, passion and vision keynoting at this year’s Leaders in Technology Dinner,” said Shapiro. “GoPro’s cameras are a great example of the power of technology to enhance our lives and provide rich entertainment experiences. We look forward to hearing Nicholas’ vision for the evolution of ‘advertising as entertainment’ and how GoPro video footage is drawing huge audiences to social platforms around the globe.”
Also appearing at CES will be U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Tom Wheeler and U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chairwoman Edith Ramirez, who will be featured speakers. In addition, for the first time in CES history, the full slate of commissioners from both bodies will participate in a roundtable discussion on critical regulatory, law enforcement and policy issues facing the technology industry.
Wheeler will join Shapiro for the 13th consecutive FCC Chairman SuperSession at CES, where the two will discuss spectrum issues, developments in broadband and open Internet, competition policy and other critical issues.
FTC Chairwoman Ramirez will deliver opening remarks for the conference session, “Privacy and the Internet of Things (IoT): Navigating Policy Issues,” part of the Innovation Policy conference track, which brings together top government officials, entrepreneurs and policy experts to explore the relationship between technology innovation and public policies while addressing major issues impacting American innovators and U.S. competitiveness.
Also a part of the Innovation Policy conference track, FCC Commissioners Mignon Clyburn, Jessica Rosenworcel, Ajit Pai and Michael O’Rielly will join their counterparts at the FTC – Commissioners Julie Brill, Maureen Ohlhausen, Joshua Wright and Terrel McSweeny – for a roundtable discussion on key policy topics such as spectrum allocation, privacy, accessibility, the Internet of Things and regulatory reform. They’ll also discuss how the FCC and FTC work together and separately to move policies forward.
International CES will be held Jan. 6-9, 2015, across multiple locations in Las Vegas.
Also announced at CES Unveiled New York were CEA’s 2015 CES Best of Innovation Honorees.
