Champlain, N.Y. – High-end component-audio supplier Cambridge Audio continues to expand its product selection beyond components to launch its first 2.1 multimedia speaker system.
The system joins a 2.0 multimedia speaker and follows the recent launch of the company’s first three tabletop-audio products, consisting of an AC/DC Bluetooth-only speaker and two speakers with built-in Wi-Fi, AirPlay, DLNA networking, Bluetooth and Internet radio. They are available in the U.S.
All of multimedia and tabletop speakers are part of the company’s Minx series.
The new multimedia speaker is the $229-suggested Minx M5, consisting of two small satellite speakers incorporating a 2-inch driver and of 5.25-inch subwoofer. The amp in the subwoofer enclosure is rated at 2×15 watts plus 1×30 watts. A desktop control hub features volume control, power control, USB audio input, aux input and headphone output. The system also features adjustable bass control and its own USB DAC.
Cambridge’s products, designed and built by London-based Cambridge, are marketed in the U.S. by Champlain, N.Y.-based Audio Plus Services, which also imports and markets multiple other home audio brands.
