New York – Barnes & Noble has started shipping the new
NookColor e-reader to customers early.
The bookseller said the latest incarnation of the Nook e-reader
should arrive in the hands of those who pre-ordered or reserved the device
starting today. The original ship date was described as mid- to late November.
In addition, small numbers of stock will arrive at Barnes &
Noble, Best Buy, Walmart and Books-A-Million stores beginning this week, the
company said.
Barnes & Noble is continuing to take orders online and in
stores for the NookColor. These are slated to start shipping around Nov. 26.
The company reiterated that only very limited quantities of the NookColor will
be available in stores, and customers who wish to have a NookColor delivered in
time for the holidays should order one now online.
The company also announced it will unveil updates to its older
Nook models during the week of Nov. 22. Details were not forthcoming.
