BDI Settles Suit

Chantilly, Va. – Contemporary furniture innovator BDI has settled
a patent-infringement action filed against a U.S. wholesale furniture
distributor and a number of Internet retailers that had offered for sale copies
of two of the company’s home-theater cabinets.

BDI had filed a lawsuit against Wholesale Interiors, as well as
six online retailers, alleging they imported, offered for sale or sold products
that infringed BDI’s patents for Avion 8527 and Avion 8521 model cabinets.
According to the terms of settlement, all parties stopped selling the accused
products, which were manufactured in China.

“BDI is pleased to announce this settlement and to have stopped
the sale of these products based on our designs,” said Bill Becker, CEO and design
director of BDI. “BDI protects its product designs with U.S. and foreign patents, and will
aggressively pursue copies of its unique designs through appropriate legal
channels.”
