Bassett Credenzas Integrate Boston Acoustics Audio

Publish date:

Mahwah, N.J. - Furniture maker Bassett has teamed up with Boston Acoustics to embed the audio supplier's soundbar technology into a series of Nvelop credenzas for flat-panel TVs.

Four wood credenzas priced from a suggested $1,499 to $1,999 are currently available through Bassett distribution channels. The credenzas incorporate a Boston Acoustics powered soundbar to improve the sound quality of TV programs and TV-connected video sources as well as delivers virtual 5.1-channel surround sound.

The credenzas, said Boston Acoustics senior VP Eli Harary, "offer consumers a simple, elegant solution for great surround sound."

The credenzas also include a wired subwoofer and wire management system.

The products mark the first time that Boston Acoustics has teamed up directly with a furniture company and the first time that Bassett has teamed up with an audio company.

The credenzas are positioned as delivering "big sound" with "no clutter" to give consumers a no-hassle way to improve the low-quality audio performance of ever-thinner flat-panel TVs, Boston Acoustics said. With that simplicity in mind, the soundbar learns the remote commands of a consumer's existing TV or cable remote, enabling the remote to control soundbar functions.

The soundbar combines 5.1-channel Dolby Digital decoder with proprietary Digitally Optimized Virtual Surround (DOVS) surround processing to deliver virtual center and surround speakers. DOVS also digitally derives 5.1 channels from 2.0-channel sources. The soundbar connects to TV set's optical digital outputs and features auxiliary RCA stereo and 3.5mm inputs.

The four credenzas include two Louis Philippe models, a large model at a suggested $1999 and a small model at $1799. A small Redin Park model and a large Redin Park model are priced at $1,499 and $1,999, respectively.

The products are now available at Bassett Home Furnishings stores, Bassett retailers and online at
