Amazon Launches Wearable CE Section

SEATTLE –Amazon.com has curated a wide range of wearable devices into a separate area within its electronics department.

The new Wearable Technology section features activity trackers, smart watches, wearable cameras, healthcare devices, wearables for babies and pets, and consumer buying guides.

Vendors include established brands like Samsung, Jawbone and GoPro; emerging brands like Basis and Misfit; and forthcoming devices from brands like Narrative and Bionym, the No. 1 e-tailer said.

“Wearable technology is an exciting category with rapid innovation, and our customers are increasingly coming to Amazon to shop and learn about these devices,” said John Nemeth, wireless and mobile electronics director.

“We’re thrilled to bring our customers a store with the largest selection and great prices that help eliminate the guesswork when deciding which wearable devices best fit their needs – whether that is tracking activity, staying connected through smart watches or capturing their next adventure with wearable cameras,” Nemeth said.

To help customers navigate the category and make informed purchase decisions, the section provides product comparisons, device compatibility information, use-case suggestions, reviews, and industry news via product videos, buying guides and blogs, according to Amazon.

To mark the launch of the new cyber store, Amazon said when it announced the plan last week that it is accepting pre-orders through May 6 of Misfit’s Bloom necklace in silver, which was designed to hold the company’s Shine activity tracker.
