T-Mobile owner Deutsche Telecom is reportedly finalizing a plan to absorb Sprint. The all-stock deal would keep TMO in charge after the coupling, to continue its winning ways of recent years. Informal merger talks supposedly began last month, at the conclusion of an FCC bandwidth auction quiet period, although the pairing has been in play for years.
“At least it seems like the people who are at the helm of T-Mobile will continue being at the helm of the newly formed company. Mergers are usually not good for consumers since it results in less competition but at least with John Legere at the helm it may not be quite so bad.”
