Boston — Longtime Sharp Electronics senior exec Bob Scaglione has joined online advertising services firm OwnerIQ as senior VP of strategic channel development.

The company, based here, helps advertisers target online ad messages to consumers based on the products and brands they browse on e-commerce and transactional websites.

In his new role, Scaglione will drive adoption of OwnerIQ’s advertising products among key manufacturers, retailers and buying groups.

“There is a lot more that manufacturers can be doing with their retail customers in the world of targeted online media,” Scaglione said. “Using today’s ad tech, OwnerIQ is unlocking the innate digital marketing opportunities that exist between these advertisers.  As a result, we are changing traditional co-op and shopper marketing paradigms.”

Added CEO Jay Habegger, “We’ve been working with Bob Scaglione less formally for years, and we’re very pleased to have him join us full-time. Bob’s background at Sharp, one of the leading electronics manufacturers, makes him ideal to lead our ongoing efforts to create a new digital advertising landscape for manufacturers and retailers.”

Scaglione’s appointment comes as the company is ramping up new digital advertising solutions and building out its partnerships with manufacturers and retailers.

To that end, it has also promoted Michael Chass to media solutions senior VP, tasked with creating and maintaining strategic partnerships with retailers and key publishers in the areas of monetization, cooperative advertising, new customer acquisition and behavioral targeted advertising.

Both Chass and Scaglione report directly to Habegger.

Scaglione most recently served as chief marketing officer at Sharp.  Before that he was marketing senior VP for consumer display, audio, video and appliance products. In 2004 he received Advertising Age’s Top 50 Marketers award for his work on Sharp’s Aquos LCD TVs.
