RadioShack Hires Target, Sam’s Execs

Fort Worth, Texas – RadioShack has recruited senior execs from Target and Sam’s Club to head store operations and marketing.

Troy Risch, formerly stores executive VP at Target, will oversee store operations and real estate for RadioShack as operations executive VP, and Huey Long, previously global officer, senior VP and general merchandise manager at Sam’s Club, will head marketing, business development and omnichannel as strategy and consumer insights executive VP.

Both report to interim CEO Dorvin Lively.

The hires will help fill a management void left by the departures of CEO Jim Gooch, chief merchandising officer Scott Young and chief marketing officer Lee Applbaum earlier this year, as well as Lively’s switch from chief financial officer to temporarily take the company’s reins.

“I’m excited to announce the addition of this best-in-class talent to the RadioShack team,” Lively said. “These are two key roles that will influence the company’s strategy, execution and future success.”

Risch joined Target 19 years ago as a store manager and rose through the ranks as district manager, group director, group VP, and stores executive VP, a post he held from 2006 to 2011.

Long has a more varied retail background, variously serving as merchandise manager and national buyer at Circuit City, global merchandising director at Amazon.com,  and his most recent role at Sam’s Club.
