Peter Hoagland, a respected marketing and public relations professional in the high-end consumer electronics industry, passed away on January 28, 2025, at 73 after living with Glioblastoma for four years. Despite his diagnosis, he continued traveling, enjoying life, and making cherished memories with his wife Peggy, family and friends.
Hoagland worked in the consumer electronics industry for his entire career, focusing on specialty audio, home theater, and custom installation. Through his firm, Peter Hoagland & Associates, he played a key role in shaping the marketing strategies of many renowned brands.
Over the years, he worked with prestigious companies such as Lenbrook, NEAR Products, B&W, KEF, Meridian, and QUAD, among others. His deep knowledge, strategic thinking, and passion for high-fidelity sound made him a trusted figure in the industry. He was also an active member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Beyond his professional achievements, Hoagland was deeply committed to his community in Fauquier County, Virginia. He was an early member of the first citizens’ group that worked on the New Baltimore Comprehensive Plan, helping to shape the future of responsible development in the area.
Passionate about preserving the character of his community, he was actively involved in efforts to protect Fauquier County from unchecked expansion, particularly the development of large data centers. His dedication to keeping his home a safe and vibrant place for future generations was a testament to his love for the area and those who lived there.
Hoagland will be remembered for his generosity, love of family and friends, his adventurous spirit, and his joy for travel—especially taking cruises. He had a great sense of humor, was a notorious practical joker, and found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures, including his deep appreciation for Costco.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, his beloved cats Alfie and Hedda, brother William (Susan), sister-in-law Joan, nieces and nephews Brad (Kim), Tiffany, Susan, Jim (Sarah), David (Kim), and grandnieces Kayla (Kenan), Faith, Isabelle (Diego), Salaia, and Charlotte.
Instead of a memorial service, a celebration of Hoagland’s life will be held in Warrenton, Virginia, at a later date.
In honor of his legacy, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to:
