LG, Sharp Name New Sales Execs

Two dovetailing careers continued their DNA-like dance this month.

Two dovetailing careers continued their DNA-like dance this month when the paths of LG Electronics USA’s Jon Krueger and Chris Hamdorf crisscrossed once again.

As a senior national account manager on the white-goods side, Krueger was LG’s point person for Best Buy and later Home Depot. He has now moved over to Sharp Home Electronics Company of America (SHCA), where he has been named western region sales director.

Hamdorf, meanwhile, joined LG three years ago from Sharp, where he was national accounts VP, and has served as LG’s senior director of national accounts, until now. According to an internal memo from Rick Calacci, senior VP of home entertainment sales, Hamdorf was promoted to the newly-created position of home entertainment national accounts VP.

Hamdorf holds a Master’s degree in marketing from Northwestern University, and came up from the appliance side, holding key product, sales and management positions at Amana, Maytag, Whirlpool and the aforementioned Sharp, where he called on such national accounts as Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, Sears and Target.

“Chris Hamdorf is a proven sales leader and merchant whose collaborative selling and planning skills will benefit both LG and our key customers in the ever-changing and competitive U.S. market,” said Calacci, to whom Hamdorf reports.

In contrast, Krueger started out on the dealer side, serving as a sales trainer and district manager for the AVB/BrandSource buying group before joining LG. In his new role, he is responsible for maintaining and expanding Sharp’s business relationships — and cooking and air quality lines — with national retailers and dealers within the company’s increasingly important western U.S. region.

“Jon brings multi-modal, highly effective experience in sales leadership and valuable marketing strategy to Sharp,” said sales and marketing senior VP Peter Weedfald, to whom Krueger reports. “His deep industry knowledge, breadth of experience and proven dedication to corporate performance and customer relationships make Jon a great asset as Sharp continues to drive growth in the home appliance space.”
