Haier Hires Kevin Dexter As COO

Wayne, N.J. — Haier has named former Samsung home appliance chief Kevin Dexter as COO, effective immediately.

At Samsung, Dexter had been instrumental in guiding the development of the company’s acclaimed kitchen and laundry line, and scored big placements with The Home Depot and key regional accounts.

He was succeeded late last year by John Herrington, and tasked with developing new lines of majap business.

Prior to Samsung, Dexter made his appliance bones at Electrolux, where his assignments included national account sales and dish-care business management.

In his new role at Haier, he will be responsible for key supply-side functions, including R&D, manufacturing, logistics, IT, operations and service.

“Kevin brings a wealth of experience and success in the major appliances business,” said Haier president/CEO Adrian Micu. “I am excited for him to join our leadership team and help elevate the company to the next level. He will be an integral part of the development of the brand and launch of future product developments.”

Added Dexter: “I am thrilled about this opportunity to join Haier America as it begins a new phase of development for the brand in the U.S. With a strong strategic product plan and redefined brand positioning, the company is poised for great things in the future, and I am pleased to be in a key leadership role to help drive that change.”

Indeed, Dexter’s appointment is the latest in a series of recent management changes at Haier, as the company “reintroduces” itself to the U.S. market with a new brand personality and lifestyle marketing game plan.
