CEDIA Details Five CEDIA Expo Education Hot Topics

A sampling of the more than 125 classes offered at this year’s event.

This year’s CEDIA Expo kicks off in a little over a month and with more than 125 classes, CEDIA is taking a moment to highlight five education topics that will take center stage at this year’s CEDIA Expo. The 2019 CEDIA Expo will run September 10-14 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

2019 Hot Topics include:

Network Security

As the Internet of Things environment continues to evolve, integrators and professionals in related fields need to be hands-on when it comes to locking down residential networks. Several courses at CEDIA Expo, including “Properly Securing a Residential Network: Methods and Best Practices” and “Remote System Access: Methods, Security and Best Practices Learning Lab” will build attendees abilities in the complicated but critical world of network security.

Health and Wellness in the Home

How to tackle health and wellness in the home is an incredibly popular topic among industry insiders and CEDIA education is offering multiple courses on this topic — notably, “A Healthy Home Starts with HVAC,” “Smart Home for Good: Technology Benefits at Every Stage of Life ,” and “Smart Seniors Seminar: How Technologies are Keeping Seniors Safer, Smarter and out of Assisted Living” — deal with topics seeing significant demand from customers.

Audio/Video Over IP Infrastructure

The methods of distributing video in commercial and residential applications keep shifting and a number of courses offered at CEDIA Expo will help integrators keep current and work toward what’s next. “AV-over-IP Methods, Formats, and System Design” will explore compression codes and standards, network speed and latency implications, HDR, and infrastructure and system design best practices. “Tailoring Network Performance with VLANS and QoS Learning Lab” will offer advanced network performance tools for residential applications to help learners enhance their understanding of achieving optimal network performance with multiple devices and programs, building on students’ working knowledge.

LED Lighting

LED technology — from sources to controls — is rapidly changing and gaining prominence. Stay ahead of the curve with courses such as “Fundamentals of Control Systems,” which will take a deep dive into a range of user interfaces and emphasize understanding to help designers meet client needs for common and complex tasks. Additional courses dealing with LED lighting will focus on user experience and the potential impact of DirectLED and microLED display systems.

The Art of the Home Theater

This year’s CEDIA Expo will offer several learning opportunities for home tech professionals looking to raise the bar on home cinema projects. “The CEDIA Home Cinema Design Masterclass” — featuring Imaging Science Foundation founder Joel Silver, Grimani Systems president Anthony Grimani, and TK Theatres and RAYVA founder Theo Kalomirakis — will provide an in-depth examination of several high-level topics for veteran integrators. The ” Becoming a Cinema Sommelier” course will focus on the unique position the high-end private cinema industry finds itself in and what opportunities it presents for integrators.
