RadioShack Appoints Marketing Chief

Fort Worth, Texas — RadioShack has hired Lee Applbaum as its chief marketing officer, responsible for advertising, brand management, customer relations management and marketing.

He assumes the marketing duties of Bob Kilinski, who was most recently marketing and wireless senior VP. Kilinski remains with the company as business development senior VP.

Applbaum, who also holds an executive VP title, reports to chairman/CEO Julian Day and will join the office of the chairman, comprised of Day, store operations chief Bryan Bevin, chief financial officer Jim Gooch, and merchandising head Peter Whitsett.

“Lee’s joining us at RadioShack represents another significant step in strengthening our senior management team,” said Day. “Lee’s background and successful track record position him well to add value to our brand.”

Applbaum joins the consumer electronics chain from The Schottenstein Stores, where he held the same position. Schottenstein holds ownership positions in American Eagle Outfitters, Filene’s Basement and other chains.

Prior to Schottenstein, Applbaum held posts at The Coca-Cola Co., Schlotzsky’s, Footstar and The David’s Bridal Group, a division of Federated Department Stores.
