Olathe, Kan. — Garmin said its Nuvi 7×5 portable GPS series has a firmware error that is causing some devices to shutdown and/or perform an unprompted GPS software update.
Garmin issued a statement saying it is aware of this issue and is “working diligently on a solution.”
The 7×5 series is a high-end line of personal navigation devices (PNDs) first announced last August. The models include 4.3-inch screens, lane assistance, Bluetooth, optional or built-in FM traffic and MSN Direct traffic, and 3-D building views in some cities. Models range in suggested prices from $399 to $549.
