Verizon Prices Palm Pixi, Pre Plus

Basking
Ridge, N.J. – Verizon Wireless priced the new Palm Pre Plus at $149 and Palm
Pixi Plus at $99.99, both after $100 mail-in rebate and with new two-year
customer agreement.

The prices
match the prices of the earlier generation Palm Pre and Palm Pixi, offered
exclusively through Sprint. Verizon is the exclusive carrier of the Plus
versions, which require a $29.95/montn data plan.

As
previously

announced

, Verizon will offer the Plus-size versions beginning
Jan. 25.

The new
models port multiple improvements over their predecessors. Both are the
industry’s first phones to double as mobile Wi-Fi hot spot with the installation
of a downloadable app. Through the Wi-Fi-equipped phones, up to five Wi-Fi
devices at a time will be able to access the Internet via Verizon’s CDMA 1x
EV-DO Rev. A network.

Pre Plus
upgrades also include internal memory doubled to 512MB, embedded flash-memory
storage doubled to 16GB, and the elimination of a navigation button to simplify
navigation. The Pixi Plus gets built-in Wi-Fi, unlike the original
Pixi.

Like the
Pre, the Pre Plus features touchscreen and slide-down QWERTY keyboard. The Pixi
Plus, like the Pixi, is smaller, lighter and less expensive than its sister
model, and the Pixi and Pixi Plus both feature touchscreens and fixed QWERTY
keyboards.
