Devialet Shifts Into Pulse Blue With New Phantom Ultimate 98 dB

What happens when French high-end audio meets Formula 1? In Devialet’s case, the result is very blue, very glossy and capable of getting very loud.

Devialet has introduced the Phantom Ultimate 98 dB – Pulse Blue, a special edition of its compact high-performance speaker created in collaboration with Global Brand Ambassador and Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver Isack Hadjar. The new model arrives one year after the latest generation of the Phantom debuted and gives the familiar speaker a striking new finish while retaining the acoustic technology underneath.

Available for pre-order beginning Sept. 15 through Devialet stores, Devialet.com and authorized retailers, the Phantom Ultimate 98 dB – Pulse Blue is priced at $2,200. A matching Tree Phantom Ultimate 98 dB – Pulse Blue stand is available for $349.

The Formula 1 connection goes beyond putting Hadjar in the campaign. Devialet describes Pulse Blue as drawing on the clarity, focus and intensity that precede moments of peak performance — qualities that translate neatly from the cockpit to the company’s performance-audio messaging.

The color itself revisits a signature blue previously used by Devialet, this time with redesigned side panels that transition from matte to gloss and feature a mirror-polished surface. A clear varnish enhances the deep RAL 5011 blue and gives the speaker a light-responsive finish, while the logo has also been refined to complement the new look. The matching Tree stand receives the same treatment for those who don’t want to break the monochromatic effect.

Fortunately, this isn’t simply a new paint job. The Pulse Blue edition retains the performance of the Phantom Ultimate 98 dB, including a claimed frequency range of 18 Hz to 25 kHz (±6 dB) and output of up to 98 dB SPL. Its audio chain supports files up to 24-bit/192 kHz, while Devialet’s cospherical architecture uses a dedicated full-range driver to broaden the acoustic field. The speaker can be used on its own, as a stereo pair or in a multiroom configuration.

Under the hood — we’ll allow ourselves one racing metaphor — are several of Devialet’s proprietary technologies. ADH New-Gen (Analog Digital Hybrid) combines Class A analog amplification with Class D digital amplification, while SAM (Speaker Active Matching) adapts the signal to the drivers in real time. HBI (Heart Bass Implosion) handles the low end, reaching a claimed 18 Hz, and AVL (Adaptive Volume Level) dynamically adjusts volume according to the content.

The Phantom Ultimate 98 dB – Pulse Blue also runs on Devialet’s DOS 3 software architecture and supports AirPlay, Google Cast, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect and UPnP. The Devialet app provides Music, Podcast, Cinema and Neutral listening modes, along with a six-band EQ, Bass Reducer and Loudness controls.

For retailers, the Pulse Blue edition gives an already visually distinctive premium speaker another reason to attract attention on the sales floor. The combination of Devialet’s unconventional industrial design, eye-catching color treatment, and Formula 1 connection gives dealers more of a lifestyle story to tell alongside the audio specs.

And at $2,200 for the speaker and $349 for the matching stand, this is clearly aimed at the premium customer. But then again, nobody has ever accused the Phantom of trying to blend quietly into the background.
