Vizio To Make First Appearance At A CEDIA Expo

Vizio, which became a major TV player by selling through national retail chains, will attend a CEDIA Expo for the first time in October as part of its effort to expand into custom-install and specialty-A/V channels.

The company will exhibit in the booth of the PowerHouse Alliance, the 12-member national consortium of regional distributors serving the specialty retail and Ci channels, said Tarah Stokes, Vizio’s senior business development manager.  In July, Vizio announced that the Alliance would offer the TV maker’s M series of 4K Ultra HD TVs, which feature 43- to 80-inch models with up to 32 zones of full-array local dimming and prices from $599 to $3,999.

The TV maker also plans to bring its first-ever Reference series to the channel. The series consists of a 120-inch TV and a 65-inch model, both with Dolby Vision high-dynamic range (HDR) technology and wide color gamut. The 120-inch wall-mount-only model will be the largest TV on the market, and because it weighs more than 300 pounds, the company wants to certify custom installers to provide installation services, Stokes said. Prices and ship dates of the Reference models haven’t been announced.

Vizio’s TVs are also sold through distributors Ingram Micro and Tech Data.
