TCL Releases QD TV Line In China

Hong Kong – TCL Multimedia said Monday it has introduced in China new 55-inch 4K Ultra HDTVs using QD Vision’s quantum dot technology supporting s wide color gamut.

TCL said its 55-inch 4K UHD Quantum Dot TVs with Color IQ technology will be available soon in more than 2,000 stores throughout China.

The new H9700 television is the company’s first quantum dot product in its TV+ portfolio.

The new quantum dot televisions deliver 100 percent NTSC (or full-gamut color) which it said offers image performance superior to OLED, and is based on QD Vision’s Color IQ optics.

Sony has marketed quantum dot technology, which it brands Triluminous Display, in step-up LED LCD TVs for the past several years.

The technology is expected to become more widespread this year as manufacturers look for competitive answers to LG’s OLED TVs.

“This is a high-end TV at an accessible price, designed to give consumers the most vibrant colors and the most advanced picture quality,” said E. Hao, CEO of TCL Multimedia. “We’re delivering both quality and value to the Chinese market with this TV, and we expect to expand its availability to other regions next year.”

“Better color makes everything better – from watching movies to gaming to e-commerce and advertising,” said Matt Mazzuchi, QD Vision market and business development VP. “QD Vision’s Color IQ technology is the only solution to provide full-gamut color at a fraction of the cost of OLED.”

The H9700 Quantum Dot TV features new design with an unusual TV stand that acts as a cable organizer, routing all of the wires to a convenient, central point behind the TV, TCL said. Custom color panels lock into place magnetically and help to keep unsightly wires out of view, while showing off the user’s personal sense of style.

In addition, the TV stand allows the H9700 to rotate 360 degrees to ensure an optimal viewing experience from any vantage point.

A 30 watt Harman Kardon speaker system supplies an enhanced sound experience.

The H9700’s TV+OS system provides a platform for both Android and Linux systems, with software updates and security, the company said.
