Best Buy Adds SVS To Magnolia Assortment

Girard, Ohio – Speaker maker SVS, founded in 1998 as a direct seller of subwoofers to consumers, continues to expand its dealer base with the addition of Magnolia Design Centers in Best Buy stores.

Best Buy operates 52 Magnolia Design Centers in 15 states, having recently opened its first two in Florida and first in Wisconsin. Magnolia Design Center showrooms offer high-end audio, video and home-automation brands such as McIntosh, Sonus faber, Bowers & Wilkins, Lutron and Savant.

With the addition of Magnolia Design Centers, SVS speakers and subwoofers are sold through about 100 retail accounts, SVS said. Magnolia will sell the company’s subwoofers.

The addition follows an August announcement that SVS partnered with a buying group for the first time. About a dozen ProSource buying group members have already picked up the brand, an SVS spokesman said. ProSource members include some of the largest home and mobile entertainment regional retailers in the U.S.

Other SVS retailers include Texas-based Starpower’s online store and four brick-and-mortar stores.

In 2012, SVS signed up its first U.S. retailer, Huppin’s, a ProSource dealer in Spokane, Wash., for online and brick-and-mortar sales. Before that, SVS did a small amount of volume through custom integrators.

The company’s strategy of selling direct to consumers and through retailers in the U.S. includes a unilateral retail pricing policy.

SVS diversified from subwoofers into home speakers in late 2012.

SVS president/CEO Gary Yacoubian said the “phenomenal growth of both Magnolia Design Centers and SVS over the last few years proves there is a high-performance audio resurgence underway, and this collaboration represents a major milestone for our brand.”
