Samsung’s Tim Baxter Promoted To North America Chief

After 2.5 years as president/COO of Samsung Electronics America (SEA), Tim Baxter’s rank is rapidly rising.

Following a promotion to president/CEO in May, Baxter has now been elevated to president/CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, effective immediately.

In his new role, succeeding Gregory Lee, Baxter will oversee the vendor’s long-term strategy for SEA and Samsung Electronics Canada. He will also continue to honcho all aspects of SEA, including sales, marketing and operations across the company’s CE, mobile and appliance categories, as well as the customer care and services and new businesses segments.

“Over the past decade, I have had the pleasure of managing various lines of business for Samsung in the U.S., including mobile and consumer electronics,” Baxter said in a statement. “I am humbled and honored to take on this new role. We have a strong management team in place throughout the region and I look forward to working with them to grow our business while continuing to provide our customers in North America with the products and experiences they have come to expect of the Samsung brand.”

Joining Baxter’s team is Young Hoon Eom, formerly president/CEO of Samsung Electronics Europe, who has been named deputy head of Samsung Electronics’ North American region.

Baxter, a former AT&T and Lucent sales, marketing and product management staffer, spent 10 years at Sony — including his last stint as strategic marketing senior VP — before joining Samsung in 2006 as sales and marketing executive VP for SEA’s consumer electronics division.
