Ex-Sony Greg Gudorf Assumes Reins At Pure Flix Digital

Former Sony Electronics executive Greg Gudorf has been named CEO of Pure Flix Digital, a streaming video-on-demand service focused on “faith-based” and family programming.

Gudorf will be responsible for “directing and driving the anticipated growth of the new PureFlix.com subscription video-on-demand service,” the company said.

The service, which launched earlier this summer, offers more than 2,500 full-length feature films, independent and educational films, kids’ animated titles, television series and documentaries. Pure Flix Digital is currently available on Roku and via iOS and Google apps, for use on smartphones, tablets, laptops/PCs or TVs.

“Greg’s technical experience in the video streaming space, along with his ability to successfully take new platforms and services to market, makes him a welcome and valuable addition to the Pure Flix family,” Pure Flix founding partner Michael Scott said. “We have ambitious plans to provide our faith-driven content to families anytime, anywhere and I’m confident Greg and his team will deliver.”

Before joining Pure Flix Digital, Gudorf served as COO of MGO.com, a premium digital streaming service and joint venture between Technicolor and DreamWorks Animation. Prior to that position, he was CEO at Digeo, a Paul Allen-owned company that introduced the Moxi High Definition Digital Video Recorder.

At Sony Electronics, Gudorf and his team launched SonyStyle.com, the company’s first foray in audio/video online/retail sales. He was also responsible for marketing the company’s TVs

Another former Sony Electronics executive, Brian Pancarik, is also joining Pure Flix Digital as operations and support VP. Pancarik will help drive the strategy and deployment of the company’s SVOD platform. He most recently was a senior product marketing and business manager at Sony.
