Target Planning Post-Christmas CE Promo

Minneapolis – While Santa
is still prepping his sleigh, Target is looking past Christmas by offering
discounts, free shipping and extended store hours on Dec. 26.

Hoping to cash in on a
deluge of holiday gift cards, the discount chain will price all Philips
headphones and iPod accessories at 20 percent off; will reduce more than 100
DVD and Blu-ray Disc titles by 50 percent; and will cut prices on other CE
products including a 32-inch Vizio LED-TV, Nikon’s Coolpix S3000 12MP digital
camera and assorted video game titles.

“Most holiday gift cards
are redeemed in our electronics department so we are gearing up for great deals
on some of our guests’ favorite products such as video games, TVs and cameras,”
said Target merchandising VP Nik Nayar.

To accommodate the
crowds, the chain will keep its stores open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. the
day after Christmas, will extend free shipping on select items priced $50 or
more, and will continue to take 5 percent off nearly all purchases made with
Target’s private-label REDcard.
