Sharp Adds DTS 2.0 To LCD TVs

Mahwah, N.J. –

Sharp

said Wednesday it has integrated

DTS

high-definition audio technology into its new line of network-connected
PRC-model televisions that are hitting the market now.

The partnership with DTS makes Sharp the first licensee to
incorporate DTS 2.0 channel and DTS 2.0 + Digital Out in televisions capable of
delivering surround sound and stereo playback for digital content.

DTS said the collaboration underscores an ongoing trend in
televisions evolving into home entertainment hubs that incorporate new multimedia
technologies.

DTS 2.0 + Digital Out decodes DTS encoded content for two-channel
stereo playback directly from the TV, turning the device into a home
entertainment media hub and offering an immersive audio experience without
additional requirement of a digital media player or set-top box. The DTS
Digital Out is compatible with external devices, such as A/V receivers or home-theater
systems.
