Hoffman Estates, Ill. – Sears is accepting online and mobile pre-orders of Samsung’s soon-to-be-released DualView cameras as part of a concerted effort to raise its consumer electronics profile.
The cameras, which officially debut Sept. 13, can be ordered at Sears.com through a special Samsung DualView splash page, or via Sear’s Text-2-Buy mobile-commerce program.
By texting the word SAMSUNG to 73277 (the numeric equivalent of “Sears” on the keypad), customers will receive a text message back with a link driving them to the product page, where they can check out on Sears2go.
“We have seen the shift to mobile purchasing, and recognize that our customers are always on the go and looking for easy, convenient ways to shop,” said Karen Austin, president of Sears Holdings Home Electronics. “Providing seamless integration both in-store and online allows us to improve shop-a-bility for all of our valued customers.”
The move follows word of a “Sears Blue Electronics Crew” marketing campaign – based on a similar program in appliances – that seeks to raise Sears’ CE profile by emphasizing such customer benefits as real-time price checks, a wide assortment of top brands, expert sales consultants, financing options and home installation.
The cameras themselves feature front and back LCD screens, which allow the subject as well as the photographer to preview the shot. Samsung will offer two DualView models: the TL220, which features a 3-inch touchscreen and will retail for $300, and the higher resolution TL225, which has a 3.5-inch touchscreen and will retail for $350.
