8/29/2007 09:37:00 AM Eastern

San Jose, Calif. — Ipevo, a Skype partner and manufacturer of Internet devices, announced yesterday that it had completed its spin-off from Taiwan-based PChome Online.

As a certified Skype hardware partner, IPEVO devices are engineered to run Skype out of the box and “give users the freedom to enjoy Skype’s free and low cost calling services without being tied to a desktop or laptop computer,” said Ipevo in a release.

IPEVO said it will retain its headquarters in Taiwan.

“The separation from PChome Online provides a great opportunity to strengthen our brand, deepen our relationship with customers, and focus on our core strengths in developing innovative and functional internet devices,” said Royce Hong CEO Ipevo. “We look forward to this new chapter in our business as we continue to simplify, enhance, and humanize the Internet experience.”
