HTC Posts Triple-Digit Gains In Everything In Q2

Taoyuan, Taiwan – Smartphone maker HTC continued to rack up triple-digit percentage gains in revenue, unit handset shipments, and net profit in its second quarter ending June 30.

The company also posted gross margin gains.

Total second-quarter revenues grew 104 percent year-over-year to NT$124.4 billion ($4.31 billion), a record high for any quarter. Net profits grew 103 percent to NT$17.52 billion ($606.8 million), and unit shipments of smartphones grew 124 percent more smartphones to hit 12.1 million. Unit shipments were also up sequentially by 24.8 percent compared to first-quarter shipments.

Second-quarter operating margins rose to 15.5 percent from the year-ago 15.3 percent, and average selling prices rose 2.6 percent to $349.

In the first-quarter, revenues shot up 175 percent, and net income rose 197 percent.

For the half, revenues were up 128 percent to NT$223.7 billion ($7.75 billion), and net profits were up 137 percent to NT$32.4 billion (1.12 billion).
