HP, eBay Team to Promote HP Digital Photography

Palo Alto, Calif. — Hewlett-Packard will leverage a partnership with online auctioneer eBay to promote its lineup of digital imaging products, the company announced today.

Using a combination of educational content, product showcases and interactive displays, HP is hoping to woo the nearly 105 million registered eBay users — 59 percent of whom, according to eBay, use digital cameras to move merchandise.

The centerpiece is the HP Digital Photography Zone area on eBay.com, which will feature interactive tours that demonstrate a variety of HP imaging technologies such as Adaptive Lighting.

An “eBay Classroom” will show users how to take, edit and upload photos for eBay listings, as well as how to capture close-ups, print photos at home, etc. An HP storefront on eBay will showcase the company’s digital imaging lineup.

The promotion will augment HP’s existing domain within eBay, the HP Marketplace, which sells the full range of the company’s consumer technology products, including desktops, notebooks, monitors, PDAs, digital cameras, inkjet photo printers, all-in-one devices, scanners, supplies and accessories.

“Digital photography is an essential component of a good item listing on eBay,” said Gary Dillabough, strategic partnerships VP, eBay. “Teaming up with HP extends the opportunity for our community members to learn more about how to take better photos and enhance their listings on eBay by maximizing the use of digital photography.”
