Gateway Offers PC Twofer

New York - A local tavern's happy hour is no longer the only place to get a two for one deal, as Gateway has started a promotion giving away a free PC with the purchase of a high-end models.

The company's latest promotion, which started over the weekend, gives consumers a Gateway 300S PC when they purchase a Gateway 700XL desktop computer, suggested retail price $3,499, or Gateway 600XL notebook, suggested retail price $2,399. The deal is only good for orders placed over the phone or online and not in the company's Country Store outlets. A monitor is not included with the 300S and shipping fees apply, while the 700XL and 600XL are shipped free of charge.

The 700XL comes with an Intel Pentium 3.06GHz processor, 19-inch LCD, two 200GB hard drives, DVD-RAM/-R-RW drive and 512MB of RDRAM. The 600XL has a 60GB hard drive, 512MB of SDRAM and a DVD/CD-RW drives and has a 15.7-inch LCD.

The 300S, a $399 value after $100 rebate, has an Intel Celeron 2GHz processor, a 40GB hard drive, 128MB of SDRAM and a CD-RW drive.
