Four More Companies Join 3D Glasses Standard

8/30/2011 12:26:23 PM Eastern
New York - Four more manufacturers have announced they support the Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative.

The group, which was founded by Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Xpand 3D earlier this month, aims to create a standard for 3D active-shutter glasses using Bluetooth technology. Royal Philips Elecronics, Sharp, TCL and Toshiba said on Tuesday they will support the initiative as well.

The program is slated to start at the end of September, with plans to begin officially certifying products manufactured under the Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative license, the group said.

A logo was also unveiled, and it will be used on product packaging to notify consumers of the standard.
