Indianapolis -- Klipsch Group
launched a second powered soundbar under its Energy brand.

Energy's

The new model, the $599-suggested
Energy
Power Bar Elite
, joins the lower priced $399-suggested Energy
Power Bar
, which shipped in recent months.

The new 2.5-inch-deep model is
slimmer than the first model but adds more power, more drivers, built-in Dolby
Digital decoding, a 3D Surround Mode, and a wireless 10-inch powered subwoofer
in place of a wireless 8-inch powered sub. It ships to authorized Energy
dealers this month.

Features include two-way speaker
complement with dual 3-inch midwoofers placed in close proximity to their
companion 0.75-inch tweeter "to act as a single source for coherent, seamless
dispersion," enabling wide dispersion with low distortion, the company said. It
can be controlled via a supplied remote, but a remote learning feature enables
it to be controlled from a user's existing TV remote.

The 3D Surround Mode adds
spaciousness to simulate a discrete 5.1-speaker setup, the company added.

The soundbar delivers 250 watts
peak compared to the first bar's 200 watts peak, and it delivers bass down to
40Hz, whereas the first model delivers bass to 50Hz.

The new model is 4.4 inches by 40
inches by 2.5 inches, whereas the original is 4.4 inches by 30 inches by 4.1
inches. The original features two 3-inch midwoofers and two tweeters.
