Canon Unveils SD4000 IS ELPH Camera

Lake Success, N.Y., - Canon
introduced Tuesday the PowerShot SD4000 IS Digital ELPH camera
featuring a high sensitivity (HS) system.

Scheduled to ship to dealers at the end of May, the SD4000 IS
will carry a $350 suggested retail.

It features a 10-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor and
Digic 4 image sensor, enabling flexible shooting capability in low light
settings without the need for a flash.

The PowerShot SD4000 IS Digital ELPH camera also has 720p high
definition (HD) movie-shooting and super slow-motion capabilities. It also
includes an HDMI output.

The camera is equipped with a bright 3.8x wide angle (28mm f/2.0)
zoom lens, and both automatic and manual controls. The SD4000 features
adjustable shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings. The camera also includes a
host of automatic features and scene modes to quickly capture a shot without

Along with Canon's HS System, the f/2.0 lens allows more light to
enter, permitting higher shutter speeds, for further reducing the effect of
camera shake and increasing image sharpness and quality.

Canon said the PowerShot SD4000 IS has the fastest high-speed
burst rate to date in a Canon PowerShot Digital ELPH camera at 8.4 frames per
second (fps).

Other features include a 3-inch LCD wide viewscreen, optical
image stabilization, support for high-capacity SDXC memory cards an Eye-Fi
memory card connectivity that streams data wirelessly to a PC.

New scene modes include miniature fish-eye effects. In addition,
new Smart Shutter technology automatically activates the shutter when a subject
smiles or winks.
