Best Buy Employees On Collapsed Bridge Unharmed

Minneapolis – At least two Best Buy employees were on the Interstate 35W Bridge at the time of its collapse here last night, along with the family of a third.
None were injured, Best Buy told TWICE, although the company has not yet accounted for all of its local staffers.

The collapse of the span, located in the company’s home town, claimed at least seven lives.

“We are assessing what this bridge collapse means to our employees who commute to the [corporate] campus from the northern suburbs and are discussing the best ways we can support the community at this time,” a spokeswoman said.

In a statement, the company said “The thoughts and prayers of the entire Best Buy family are with those affected by [last] evening’s bridge collapse in Minneapolis. We are grateful for the courage and skills of the first responders, public safety officers, and health care professionals who are helping the injured and saving lives.”

A spokesperson for Target, which is also headquartered in Minneapolis, could not provide any information on the status of area employees.
