BenQ Unveils 24W” LCD Monitor

Irvine, Calif. — BenQ has introduced what it calls “the industry’s first 24W-inch LCD monitor with HDMI input and a 6ms gray-to-gray response time.”

Model FP241W ($1,099 suggested retail), will ship in November through distributor Ingram Micro. The unit, which is designed for optimal gaming performance, is said to be among the first multi-function monitors to receive TCO ’06 certification, which covers the display of moving images such as high-resolution action games.

Gaming performance is said to be enhanced through the addition of BenQ Senseye and Advanced Motion Acceleration (AMA) technologies.

The HDMI with HDCP interface will transfer data at a 5Gbps rate. Panel resolution is listed at an HD level 1,900 by 1,200 (WUXGA).

The AMA technology is said to greatly reduce gray-to-gray response time so moving parts of an image are clearer. The monitor’s GTG response time is said to be 6ms, and the contrast ratio is listed at 1,000:1.

The monitor is designated ready for use with Windows Vista Premium content which includes such features as Aero effects, translucent windows, Flip 3D and smooth moving windows.

Bundled with the monitor is Pivot Pro software, the industry standard for on-the-fly display rotation to vertical or horizontal viewing.
