Replacing faulty power cords 10/05/2015 03:15:00 PM Eastern

Select dishwashers by industry leader Bosch are being recalled to replace a defective power cord that has caused at least five fires.

The voluntary recall, by Bosch parent BSH Home Appliances, also includes models by sister brands Thermador and Gaggenau, and units manufactured for Sears under the Kenmore Elite brand.

The power cords were supplied by an outside supplier and may be prone to overheating, the premium majap maker said. BSH has received 10 reports in total, including the five fires which resulted in property damage, although no injuries have been reported.

The suspect models were manufactured in Germany and sold in the U.S. and Canada between Jan. 2008 and May 2014 at appliance and specialty retailers, department stores, authorized builder distributors, home improvement stores and online, according to BSH and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Some 149,000 units were sold in the U.S. and about 45,000 were sold in Canada at retails ranging from $850 to $2,600.

BSH has set up a safety recall hotline, dedicated recall websites for each brand, and is providing consumers with free inspections and repairs. The affected models are below:
