AAMP Makes Another Acquisition

Clearwater, Fla. – Consolidation continues in the car electronics aftermarket with AAMP of America’s acquisition of Rosen Electronics.

The acquisition is AAMP’s seventh since the company was acquired by Audax Private Equity in November 2006.

Corona, Calif.-based Rosen makes rear-seat headrest and ceiling-mount video-entertainment systems, in-dash multi-media head units with navigation under the Rosen and CarShow brands, and Echomaster vehicle-safety products such as back up cameras, parking sensors, and rear-view mirror monitoring systems.

With the purchase, AAMP said it is expanding its product selection and scaling up its current R&D and engineering team. The only product overlap consists of safety products. “Both the Rosen Echomaster and AAMP Intraphex brands provide safety products, [but] these two brands complement each other and extend the offering in this growing category,” AAMP marketing VP Marie Still told TWICE.

Rosen’s sales, marketing and engineering teams will remain intact, she said. “This acquisition not only scales our product offering but also our team’s capabilities.  We are looking forward to integrating the Rosen team, sharing best practices and leveraging knowledge.”

Added Rosen president/CEO Tom Clements, “The natural synergies between the two companies will improve our customers’ ability to accelerate their growth plus improve our ability to offer product solutions for the growing markets we serve.”

AAMP’s previous acquisition came early in 2014 when it completed the acquisition of U.K.-based Armour Automotive of the U.K. That company designs and distributes connectivity and audio products for sale to vehicle makers and to aftermarket retailers in the automotive, agricultural, and leisure markets.

Rosen itself is no stranger to making acquisitions. In late 2013, Rosen bought the assets of Echomaster, which makes parking sensors, reverse cameras, smart mirrors and the like. It was an approved OEM supplier to Ford.

AAMP supplies car audio integration technologies as well as aftermarket audio accessories and mobile audio/video components through such brands as Stinger, PAC, iSimple, Intraphex, Phoenix Gold, American International, Armour Automotive, Best Kits & Harnesses, and Sound Quest.
