Nyne is bringing the boom to portable Bluetooth speakers with a pair of hefty boombox-like models featuring built-in carry handles.
The two models are the $249 Nyne Rock and $179 Nyne Rebel, which are available through retailers in-store and online. They’re the company’s heftiest portable Bluetooth speakers to date, with the Rock measuring in at 21 by 9.75 by 6.75 inches. The Rebel is a little smaller at 16 inches in width.
The model joins a growing list of boombox-like portable Bluetooth speakers from multiple companies, including Pyle, BEM, G-Project and QFX.
Nyne’s three-way models feature dual tweeters, dual midranges and a single woofer. The Rock’s output is rated at 65 watts, while the Rebel is rated at 40 watts.
Their ruggedized housing features rubberized finish and IPX3 rating to resist spraying water. Both also feature rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to 10-hour playback time, NFC, aux input and output, power bank to charge a mobile phone and a microphone for hands-free calling.
They’re part of the X series of water-resistant, ruggedized Bluetooth speakers. Nyne also offers a C series.
Bluetooth boomboxes from other companies range in size up to 24.5 by 10 by 10 inches for a cylindrical model from Pyle at $571. Even larger rechargeable Bluetooth speakers from QFX are up to 3 feet tall but are labeled party speakers.
Nyne is part of California-based Boss International Group (BIG), a supplier of car audio products for more than 25 years.
