Toshiba Launches DVD-RW Equipped Notebook Computer

Toshiba has started shipping its first notebook equipped with a rewritable drive.

The Satellite 5202-S703 is a multimedia-centric device featuring an integrated DVD-R/-RW drive, Harmon/Kardon speakers with a built-in subwoofer, a TV-out button, remote control and integrated 802.11b wireless networking.

There is also a second empty drive bay that allows the owner to expand the notebooks capabilities with a variety of additional drives or a second battery. Toshiba also has available "bridge media adapter" which accepts a variety of flash memory cards including SmartMedia, CompactFlash and MemoryStick.

The notebook is available direct from with a $2,699 suggested retail price.
