Amherst, N.Y. — Stampede Presentation Products has opened its fourth North American distribution center in Duluth, Ga., to serve Southeastern and Southwestern states.
The center will launch Stampede’s new end-user centric unified communications demonstration center and feature a new video conferencing technologies showroom. According to Stampede president and COO Kevin Kelly, the new center reflects the company’s commitment to keeping its extensive pro A/V inventory local to dealers.
Los Angeles – AVAD has changed some dates for events in the Northeast in its second annual Opportunity Tour, due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
The Woburn, Mass. has been rescheduled for Nov. 14. Pine Brook, N.J., will be Nov. 15, and a date for Plainview, N.J., has not been decided as yet.

Harrisburg, Pa. — D&H Distributing will donate 1 percent of orders placed during the Wednesday, Nov. 7, D&H Fall Mid-Atlantic Technology Show to help support storm victims affected by Hurricane Sandy.
The show will be held in Hershey, Pa.
The distributor will also donate 1 percent of orders billed via the DandH.com website or the D&H iPhone and iPod Touch app on Friday, Nov. 9. Funds from both will be donated to the American Red Cross for storm relief.

Harrisburg, Pa. – D&H Distributing announced it will host its sixth annual Mid-Atlantic Fall Technology Show on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, Pa.
The event is expected to attract 1,000 attendees from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington D.C. Registration opens at 11 a.m., with seminars running from 12 to 6:45 p.m., and exhibits open from 3 until 8:30 p.m. Registration is free for D&H customers.
Santa Ana, Calif. — Ingram Micro reported higher sales and profits in its third quarter, ended Sept. 30.
The distributor reported worldwide sales of $9.03 billion were up 1 percent in U.S. dollars when compared with $8.90 billion in the third quarter last year. The translation effect of foreign currencies had a negative impact of 5 percent on worldwide sales growth as compared with the prior year.
Operating income grew by 8 percent to $92.6 million year on year. Net income was $53.3 million, up from the prior year’s $23.3 million.
Lawrenceville, Ga. - SED International has appointed Robert O’Malley president/CEO, effective today.
He succeeds Jonathan Elster, who had held the post for the past three years.
The change follows a $2 million loss in the distributer’s most recent quarter and lower net earnings for its full fiscal year.

The two-day event drew more than 100 manufacturers. Stampede president/COO Kevin Kelly made reported that the distributor of proAV solutions has increased its gross profit this year by 25 percent and its core category unit count growth is up a 76 percent over 2011.
Chicago – Best Buy has tapped wireless distributor Brightstar to manage its entire inventory of returned mobile devices.
The distributor, which has augmented Best Buy’s mobile supply chain since 2009, said it will consolidate the retailer’s multiple return channels to improve efficiency and reduce costs, and will manage the processing, repair, refurbishing and repackaging of the pre-owned handhelds.
The devices come in as general returns and exchanges, and through Best Buy’s Trade In, Buy Back and other service programs, Brightstar said.
