Long Beach, Calif. — Pioneer has begun offering a $120 mail-in rebate with the purchase a $499-suggested AppRadio 2 in-dash head unit from any authorized Pioneer retailer through April 30.
AppRadio2, which features a 7-inch touchscreen, enables head-unit access to such core iPhone features as contacts, calendar and stored music as well as head-unit control of select compatible third-party iPhone apps, including navigation. AppRadio 2 offers similar functionality for 27 connected Android smartphones.
The head unit, which features an AM/FM tuner but no CD mechanism, is compatible with the iPhone 4 and 4S using an included cable that comes with the AppRadio 2. The head is compatible with the iPhone 5 via a $50-everyday HDMI cable kit, Apple’s $49 Lightning digital A/V adapter to convert the iPhone 5’s digital-video output to HDMI, the Lightning-to-USB cable included with the iPhone 5, and a free head-unit firmware upgrade.
This TWICE webinar, hosted by senior editor Alan Wolf, will take a look at what may be the hottest CE products at retail that will be sold during the all-important fourth quarter. Top technologies, market strategies and industry trends will be discussed with industry analysts and executives.
