San Francisco, Calif. – Streaming-anime TV service provider Crunchyroll launched Thursday a branded app on the Panasonic Viera Connect TVs, bringing is Japanese content to viewers around the world.
The app will be available on the smart Viera TV platform everywhere except Japan, offering a library of more than 20,000 episodes.
Viera Connect is Panasonic’s connected TV platform that delivers interactive and streaming entertainment content to owners of Panasonic connected HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc players and home-theater systems.
The platform offers access to video-on-demand content and applications covering everything from news and fitness, social networking, music and online shopping and gaming, Panasonic said.
Viera Connect requires no external box or PC and is accessed via a single button on the television remote control.
Crunchyroll premium members will have access to anime and other Japanese television shows in HD with English subtitles within one hour of their original Japanese TV broadcast.
The list includes such hits as “Naruto Shippuden,” “Hunter x Hunter,” “Space Brothers” and “Sword Art Online.”
