CE Holiday Sales Up 15% Online

Reston, Va. – Online sales of consumer electronics were up 15 percent year-over-year for the Nov. 1-Dec. 10 holiday period, ComScore reported.

The market research firm considers CE a separate category from video games, which also rose 15 percent, and computer hardware, which grew 14 percent during the period.

The holiday’s fastest-growing e-commerce category was digital content and subscriptions, which increased 22 percent, ComScore said, followed by toys at 18 percent.

Total online holiday sales (Nov. 1-Dec. 10) were up 13 percent year-over-year to $29.3 billion, and sales on Dec. 10, or  “Green Monday” – the second Monday in December – were also up 13 percent, making it the third heaviest shopping day of the season after Cyber Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 4, the company reported.
