Funai Introduces One of the First Philips 24” Kitchen Android TV™ with the Google Assistant Built-in at CES 2019

Funai Corporation, Inc. today introduced the Philips 24” Kitchen Android TV with the Google Assistant built-in.

The Philips 24” Kitchen Android TV with the Google Assistant is one of the first-of-its-class televisions designed for the heart of every home — the kitchen. The Android TV platform paired with the integrated far-field, echo-cancelling microphone gives users voice-activated access to the Google Assistant so there’s no need to touch the remote control. Users can instantly gain hands-free access to their favorite recipes, online videos, streaming apps, music playlists, local TV programming, and smart devices.

With the power of voice, users can simply say “Hey Google” to instantly gain access to a hands-free entertainment or assistance. The Google Assistant lets users control the television by voice without the need of a remote. You can also search for your favorite entertainment across popular streaming applications. Users can turn the TV into a personal sous chef by using the Google Assistant to go through saved recipes step-by-step, and repeat steps when told.

Hands tied while cooking or eating? Users can also plan their day by checking traffic and the weather or link the system to favorite online retailers to easily order items from ingredients to household supplies. Want peace of mind? Kitchen Android TV can be used to control existing smart-home devices including lighting, alarm systems, surveillance cameras, and more.

“The Philips Kitchen Android TV provides a unique experience that combines smart functionality, the convenience of the Google Assistant, and leading dynamic, high-quality audio and video technology into a compact design that complements any kitchen décor,” said Youssef Ibrahim, Sr. Product Marketing Manager, Funai Corporation, Inc. “From legacy OTA broadcasting, to popular OTT streaming applications, and the future of voice control, this product is designed to be the perfect kitchen companion.”

Funai engineers were inspired by the trends within home furnishings and kitchen décor, incorporating a minimalistic white bezel surrounding the LCD panel and woven gray mesh cloth covering the powerful dual-speakers that double as the TV stand. Not only does the TV perform well, it also blends perfectly into any kitchen space or décor. The Kitchen Android TV runs Android 8.0 software and is designed with two HDMI ports, dual 8-watt integrated speakers and HD display technology.

“The Philips 24” Kitchen Android TV is one of the first to market a small screen Android TV device with an integrated far-field microphone,” said Shalini Govil-Pai, Senior Director of Product Management for Android TV. “Situated between smart displays and large screen devices, the new device showcases the powerful capabilities of the Google Assistant in the kitchen.”
