D&H To Sponsor A Year’s Worth of Wishes For Make-A-Wish Recipients

Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley region wish kids to benefit starting April 2020

D&H Distributing recently announced a partnership with Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley to sponsor wishes for children across Dauphin County, PA, for a full year.

D&H sponsored a Make-A-Wish trip to Universal Studios in 2018 for a 13-year-old boy from Lancaster, PA, by the name of Max and his family. Diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder, Max, an avid superhero fan, was overjoyed to vacation at Universal Studios courtesy of Make-A-Wish.

“Since sponsoring Max was such a rewarding experience, D&H was eager to find a way to accommodate more wishes for the young people involved with Make-A-Wish,” said Dan Schwab, co-president at D&H in a statement. “We’re thrilled for the opportunity to support additional projects with this foundation, creating uplifting experiences for children that help distract from their conditions and provide some vital, positive encouragement in their lives.”

Despite the generous support from dedicated and loyal local donors, Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley is still not in a position to fully fund the 12-14 wishes that are granted annually in this region. D&H has stepped forward, becoming a lead partner to ensure that all wishes are fulfilled in the coming year.

“D&H is showing extraordinary initiative in partnering with us. Their commitment is to ensure that all wishes in Dauphin County are granted for a full year. In my 23 years at Make-A-Wish, I’ve rarely seen this level of leadership from one organization,” said Dennis J. Heron, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley in an official statement. “For many years we have had a cadre of exceptional donors and volunteers doing extraordinary work in Dauphin County on our behalf, but year after year the number of children awaiting wishes exceeded our ability to fund them all. D&H is going to close that gap. The company’s efforts will go a long way in bringing some potentially game-changing hope, strength, and joy to kids with critical illnesses in our area.”

D&H Distributing headquarters has been located in Dauphin County, PA for nearly 70 years and has been in operation for over 100 years. D&H serves its members across the U.S. and Canada from six warehouses and delivers a diverse product assortment including consumer electronics, ProAV, digital displays, home entertainment, smart home automation, small office/home office, video surveillance, home and outdoor products, housewares and much more.

“As a company with an extended history in our area, D&H is looking to reinforce its commitment to Dauphin County,” said Michael Schwab, co-president at D&H. “We therefore also hope our involvement helps to enhance awareness of Make-A-Wish, in this county and throughout the Harrisburg business community. Thanks go to Max for his inspiration.”

“It’s amazing to see how a single wish inspired D&H to expand the program and grant a year’s worth of wishes,” said Dauphin County Commissioner George P. Hartwick, III. “We hope this enormously generous act will inspire others.”
