Amazon’s Echo & Fire Devices Were Gobbled Up Over The Holiday Weekend

Amazon said four of its proprietary Echo and Fire devices outsold all other products purchased on its site over Black Friday weekend.

The Amazon items were the Echo Dot, the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, its Fire tablet, and the Amazon Echo.

The e-tailer said it sold millions of Alexa-assisted devices over the weekend, and that Cyber Monday sales of its Echo, Dot and Tap wireless speakers were up seven-fold over last year.

Dave Limp, senior VP of Amazon devices and services, noted that three of the devices — the Dot, the 7-inch Fire tablet and the TV Stick — are all priced under $50, which is helping to make the company’s Alexa cyber assistant ever more pervasive.

“It’s never been easier to have Alexa in any or every room, and we’re excited for millions of new customers to discover Alexa this holiday season,” he said.

Among other Amazon stats:

* Fire TV remains the No. 1 streaming-media player across all U.S. retailers, with sales on Cyber Monday up more than 2.5 times over last year.

*Fire tablet sales on Cyber Monday more than doubled year over year.

*The Fire Kids Edition enjoyed its best holiday shopping weekend ever, and remains the best-selling children’s tablet across all U.S. retailers.

The e-tailer added that the most popular holiday titles viewed on its video-streaming service on Thanksgiving Day included “Christmas Vacation” and “Charlie Brown Christmas.”
