Amazon Begins Black Friday 2016 Countdown With Dedicated Deals Page

Amazon has started the holiday clock by bringing back its Black Friday Deals Store.

The dedicated section features more than 7,000 pages of discounted items, updated as often as every five minutes, and up to 20 doorbuster-like Deals of the Day. The store runs today through Dec. 22.

Amazon is kicking off its Black Friday countdown with a 55-inch curved 1080p OLED TV by LG, which serves as today’s lead item. Available until 3 a.m. tomorrow, the deal provides a 33 percent discount to deliver a $1,000 price point.

Other launch-day discounts include $20 off the e-tailer’s Kindle Voyage, Paperwhite, Kids bundles and new Kindle e-readers.

In addition, Amazon is bringing back its curated holiday gift guides for electronics, home and handmade items. The electronics guide spotlights more than 500 of the year’s “hottest” tech products such as 360-degree cameras, VR headsets and 3D printers, and sorts them into 10 categories including:

*smart home;
*home entertainment;
*music;
*wearables;
*photography;
*gaming;
*“gadgets and gizmos”;
*under $100;
*new releases;
*“on the go”; and
*an “electronics showcase” overview.

“Customers love discovering the best deals on the most sought-after products, and our Black Friday Deals Store and curated holiday gift guides offer them a place to do just that,” said Doug Herrington, North American retail senior VP.

To further aid holiday shopping, Amazon has also introduced a series of features including:

*Package X-Ray, which allows iPhone owners to determine what’s inside a delivery without opening the box by scanning the barcode using the Amazon mobile app. Effective Nov. 15;

*Search Anything, which allows customers to aim their smart phones at virtually any product to find similar items on Amazon. Newly expanded from barcodes and a few types of products; and

*exclusive deals for Amazon Prime members who order through Alexa.
